Council of Intown Neighborhood Schools (CINS)
The Council of Intown Neighborhoods and Schools (CINS), founded in 1978, represents a cluster of eleven schools located within Atlanta intown neighborhoods. Parents, school system administrators, Board of Education members, and representatives of neighborhood and business organizations meet each month with the principals of our schools to exchange ideas, initiate actions on issues of common concern, and undertake special projects. CINS seeks out existing problems and creates forums to find solutions.
Additionally, for the past two decades CINS has awarded annual education grants that have totaled thousands of dollars to classroom teachers. CINS encourages the faculties of our member schools to submit challenging proposals that will raise the bar of excellence in their schools and classrooms. These proposals are then evaluated by a panel of highly respected educators and community leaders. Teachers value CINS grants as accessible resources that can make a real difference to their students. The grants are not limited to any specific discipline or genre, and a recent audit of the program determined that all our schools have shared equally in these funds to enrich courses and subject matter that run the breadth of the curriculum.
