Physical Education
OVERVIEW
Physical Education courses encourage students to develop a positive attitude about being physically, mentally, and emotionally fit. Instructors teach skills necessary for individual and team sports as well as the relationship between a healthy body and a healthy mind.
MAJOR COURSE OFFERINGS
Physical Fitness--provides in methods to attain a healthy level of physical fitness and to develop a lifetime fitness program. This course includes fitness principles, nutrition and diets, weight control, stress management, and consumer information.
Team Sports--introduces fundamental skills, strategies, and rules associated with team sports such as basketball, volleyball, soccer, softball, baseball, field hockey, and flag football.
Intermediate Team Sports--enhances skills and strategies in team sports.
Health--explores the mental, physical, and social aspects of life and how each contributes total health and well-being. Coursework includes: safety, nutrition, mental health, substance abuse prevention, disease prevention, family life education, and health careers.
Some students are exempt from Physical Education courses if they are active in varsity sports: PE Exempt Form
